A Firm Foundation is the home of Joshua Weir’s writing from the last decade. Merging articles written for other organizations and publications, as well as the convergence of His prior blogs Finding Faithfulness, Conversations in Community, and The Issue at Hand. Josh is an author and speaker with a broad body of experience partnering with innovative people in high-impact environments. He has worked with a variety of individuals and organizations over the years, encouraging others toward thoughtful, integrated perspectives through their values, faith, and experience; equipping transformed people to cultivate impact in the world. Josh has been writing faith-based content for over three decades — online, in print, and curriculum for religious and educational organizations. He is also a big proponent of classical Christian education, knowing that an integrated understanding of our existence begins with the fear of the Lord and a Christ-centered worldview.

In seeking to undestand the foundation we have, we have to look upward rather than inward. With an abundance of perspectives and values, we have to challenge the ideas of culture and reclaim the truth. We need to return to the only foundation worth building on. Some of the main areas we look to are in community, the centrality of God in a believer’s life, exhorting others to maturity in Christ, and the transformation of our minds through the Word of God in Bible study. As believers, we are called to be transformed by the renewing of our minds, in Christ. As believers, we are called to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. In a world calling us to conform, to deconstruct, to assert our own foundation for how we build our lives we must understand that there is only one foundation, the one already laid in Christ (1 Corinthians 3:11). We are not contrarians to the world for the sake of criticism or condemnation; but as transformed people, we seek to transform the world for the Kingdom of God. This is the power of the Gospel at work in us.

The efforts put forward here are intended to stir hearts and minds toward the faithful pursuit of the Almighty. In a world full of distraction, disillusionment, and doubt, we need to be transformed so that we can engage the world for the Kingdom of God. He is the author of The Community of the Faithful, which explores the contemporary understanding of identity, the illusion ingrained in our societies, and the search for significance in our lives. He is also working on the forthcoming series of books titled In/Not Of, which explores the questions many of our young people face in the 21st Century.
