In/Not Of: Firm Foundations for Life
In/Not OF:

for Life
In/Not Of is a book of questions. It is a 10-part journey of understanding the world around us, particularly as we seek to know more about our identity and purpose. The first question, of course, is, what does ” In/Not Of ” refer to? Our earthly reality is something God created: a space made specifically for His people to inhabit, to have dominion over, and to be stewards of. When we speak of our origin as people, this is the reality of God’s ordered world, which we live in and experience every day. That’s the “In” part.
When we look at the “Not Of” part, we think of Jesus’ message to His followers in John 17. As He prays to the Father, He says, “They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.” The reality of those who are redeemed and following Christ is that they are no more of the world than God is. This means that the authority they live by is not what the culture says, what other people say, or what “the world” says, but rather what God says. When we live by His desires, His values, and for His mission on Earth, we find purpose in spreading His glory, sharing the Gospel, and discipling others within the community of the Faithful.
Through these pages, we wrestle with the big questions in life, such as who we are, who God is, what good and evil are, how we view the world, and how we engage with others in a world steeped in illusion. We will find the truth of reality, the beauty of who we are made to be, and the goodness of our Lord, all anchored in wisdom from God’s Word. Whether you read it with a friend, a small group, or even on your own, we can have our minds renewed in Christ and be transformed people who cultivate transformation in our world.
